Author Biography

  • Joel D. Ruark, Wheaton College

Joel D. Ruark is a biblical scholar in the service of the church, with a deep and abiding interest in the old stories of the world as well as the legendarium of J.R.R. Tolkien (which, although historically new, feels like an old story!). He specializes in Hebrew linguistics and pedagogy from a cognitive perspective, and his research interests center around the linguistic, metaphorical, and theological uses of the concept of light in ancient Near Eastern literature, especially the Hebrew Bible.
