How Biased Media Affects the Modern American Political Climate
Abstract
Incivility, controversy, and outrage characterize the majority of American news outlets. Rhetorical bias damages a source’s credibility, normalizes inflammatory language, and breeds distrust. By identifying examples of rhetorical bias in the news, this paper explores their effects on political polarization.
