Abstract

Known as the "last divided city in Europe," Cyprus' capital city, Nicosia, represents a country divided both physically and ethnically between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Arts-based peacebuilding has already had some success in Cyprus, and it has the potential to heal Cyprus of its history of violence, hate, and division. Creative arts are a viable pathway to raise cultural awareness, highlight commonalities between groups, and open dialogue between opposing sides.
